A museum is devoted to Joseph Le Brix, pioneer of aviation Born in 1899, he became passionate about aviation and, in 1928, made the first crossing of the South Atlantic, with Costes. He died in an accident 3 years later, during his second attempt: Paris - Tokyo. A room, dedicated to Jean and Anne Farkas, houses a collection of antique toys, porcelains, automata ... Another also presents a collection of more than sixty accordions from 1840 to the present day (collection Francis Le Pipec, renowned Breton accordionist) . This museum, is also interested in model ships: thirty large ships (merchant navy, military, sailboats, steamers ...) is presented and reflects the evolution of the navy from the 15th century to the present day. Around 1500 years ago, priests and monks arrived from the UK. In the village of Carnoët, sculptors created giant four-metre high granite statues of saints and placed them on a feudal mound with views stretching out as far as the Monts d'Arrée mountains. Guided tours are organised every day, and in June and September, you can also see the sculptors at work. Pets are welcome and there is disabled access. Consisting of thirty or so stages, the route starts at a unique place (the former LU factory) by the Canal Saint-Félix, and continues through various places like the abolition of slavery memorial, the Chantiers Park where the Sea Worlds Carousel (Carrousel des mondes marins) and the Great Elephant (Grand éléphant) are on display, the castle of the Dukes of Brittany and the medieval quarter of Bouffray. A green line is traced on the ground to indicate the itinerary to visitors. Most sites on the trail are free entry. visitors can explore the city on an urban trail dotted with works of art. All summer long, contemporary artworks which already exist or are created for the occasion are scattered around various places in the city. Reflecting the world of travel and poetry, they create a surprise on the historic side streets, town squares or unexpected spots.
