Local French farmers have often recommended Mole traps, I've tried these with varying degrees of effectiveness. A Mole gun proved to be quiet effective, though I was always worried about kids setting it off by accident.
A recent conversation with an old Frenchman was very interesting. He said that Moles are haemophiliacs and if cut don't stop bleeding. He said that they put a small amount of broken glass in the tunnel just below the mole hill. This way the mole will cut itself and then bleed to death. A bit extreme perhaps but if you are at your wit’s end, perhaps worth a thought…
